Al-Quran Distribution Project

WAMY Sri Lankan office began Al-Quran Distribution Program last week. Around 600 copies of Al-Quran and Tarjuma were distributed in the area of Sabragamuwa, Uva and Central Province as first step. And it has planned to extend the distribution work throughout the island in the month of August and September.

Seminar for the Orphans’ Coordinators

A seminar was held at WAMY main hall on last Saturday, the 24th of July 2010, for the orphan coordinators. Around 40 coordinators throughout the country attended the programme.

After the inauguration speech by As-Sheikh A.R.M. Hafeel, the in charge of Orphans Caring Unit, As-Sheikh Dr. H.L.M. Haris, Deputy Director, WAMY-Sri Lanka spoke on the topic of “Training the Children to Make Good Relationship with Almighty Allah”. After the morning tea break, As-Sheikh M.U.M. Riswan, Deputy Director, WAMY-Sri Lanka spoke on the topic of ISO 9001:2008 (Planning, Implementing and Evaluation).

Followed by the lunch, an open discussion was held on the topic of communication between WAMY office and the coordinators.

Guidance Seminar for Working Women

The Guidance Program for the Working Women was held at WAMY main hall on 10th of July. Over 40 women from Government and private sectors participated. The seminar was organized by the WAMY Ladies Wing. As-Sheikh A.B.M. Abbas, Dr. Mareena Riffai and Ash-Sheikh M.H.M. Buhary spoke on the topics of “Islamic Guidance for Muslim Women”, “Family and Social Responsibilities” and “Historical Women in the Development of the Society” respectively.Questions and Answers Program was held at the end.

Girl Students Training Camp in Colombo

A Two-Day Residential Training Camp was held at Markaz Naasir Al-Husain, Gottatuwa on 3rd and 4th of July under the theme of “Role Model Muslim Woman”. It was organized by WAMY Orphans Unit. Around 50 orphan girl students from various places in the island participated in this camp.

The resource personals, Mrs Moufiya Ibrahim, As-Sheikh M.S.M. Razeen and As-Sheikh M.T.M. Nusrath conducted the lectures on “Role Model of Ummathul Mu’mineen”, “Self Confidence and Positive Thinking” and “Leadership Quality” respectively. Some games and group activities also took place in this camp.

The program was finished at 2.00pm on Sunday with the gift awarding ceremony to the students who won in the Qirath competition among the participants.

Youth Training Camp at Kurudeniya

A Three Day Residential Youth Training Camp was held at the Educational Training Center at Kurugeniya in Kandy recently. Around 35 Students of O/L and A/L participated in the camp. It was organized by the WAMY Education Unit in collaboration with SSD-Colombo.
As-Sheikh Razeen Shaheed, Dr. M.Mawjood, Br. M. Safras and As-Sheikh M. Akram attended the camp as the resource personals.

Girl Students Training Camp

A Two-Day Residential Training Camp was held at Padinawela Muslim Vidyalaya, Boragas on 8th and 9th of June. It was organized by WAMY Ladies Wing. Around 52 Advanced Level girl students participated in this camp.
The resource personals, Dr. As-Sheikh H.L.M. Haris, As-Sheikh M.I.M. Imthiyas, As-Sheikh Razeen Shaheed, As-Sheikh M.R.M. Mihlar and Dr. M.T.M. Alavi conducted the lectures on “Leadership Quality”, “Women and Social Relationship”, “SWOT Analysis”, “Role Model Leaders from Seera” and “Moral Development” respectively.
