Leadership Training Camp at Matale

A three-day leadership training camp for the students under the theme “We are the Future Leaders” was held from 14th -16th, October at the Zahira College, Matale.
This seminar was organized by the Education Unit of the WAMY. About 50 students attended the camp. As-Sheikh Tharik Ali, Dr. Husny Jabir, Br. Niyas and As-Sheikh Nusrath Thowfeek lectured as the following headings.1.Challenges Faced by Youngsters and Appropriate Solutions 2. Uplifting of Disciplinary Characteristics 3. Career Guidance 4. Leadership Characteristics
Further, the students were divided into groups and workshops were held. Also games in relation to leadership too were held. At the end of the program, certificates were awarded to the participants.

WAMY Radio Program

WAMY sponsored a Radio Program at the SLBC Muslim service monthly at 9.00am to 10.00am every last Saturday of the month, in the weekly program ‘Majlisus Shura’.
“Importance of Education”, “Why are Muslims Backward in Education”, “Characteristics Features that are Needed for a Model Muslim School”, “Contribution of the Principals in the Organization of the School” are some of the topics discussed in the programs.

Training Program for Malays

A one-day training program was held at WAMY main hall, Colombo on September, 25. Around 30 participants from Malay societies attended the program. It was organized by WAMY Da’wa unit. Ustaz Omer Idris, the director, WAMY-Sri lanka participated as the Chief Guest of the program. Moulavi Mahir, As-Sheikh S.H.M. Faleel and Moulavi Arkam were the resource personnels.

Holy Quran printed in Sri Lanka

The inaugural and distributing function of the printed Holy Quran in Sri Lanka was held at WAMY hall on the 18th of August. A number of scholars and around 50 representatives from several Islamic organizations and media personals attended the program. The program started with the welcome speech by Ustaz Omer Idris, Director, WAMY Sri Lanka. The guest speaker As-Sheikh A.C. Agar Mohammed addressed the gathering about the necessity of the Holy Quran printing. At last the printed Holy Quran copy was handed over to the special guests by Ustaz Omer Idris.

Opening of the Ummu Mishal Islamic Centre

The opening of the Ummu Mishal Islamic Centre constructed by WAMY in Kalawewa took place on the 20th of August 20011. It was opened by Mr. Omer Idris Salih, the director WAMY- Sri Lanka. A large number of village people participated in the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, an iftar program was also held in the new building.

One-Day Seminar on Sri Lanka Muslim Education

A one-day seminar on Sri Lankan Muslim education was held at the Booker Recreation hall, Colombo on July, 14. Over 80 representatives from the organizations and educational personals participated in the seminar. It was organized by WAMY education unit.
Dr. M.A.M. Shukry, As-Sheikh A.C.
